FEATURED AUTHOR

AMY GRECH

When did you first start writing?

I started writing in high school after reading Edgar Allen Poe's stories. I've been writing ever since! I've sold over 70 stories to various magazines including: 1,000 Delights.com, Alexandria Digital Literature, Blue Murder Magazine, Buried.com, Cold Storage, Dark Muse, Deviant Minds, Funeral Party 2, Horrorfind.com, House of Pain, TheMurder Hole, Nasty Snips, Shadow Keep, Shadow of the Marquis, Tapestry Magazine, Terror Tales, Twisted Tales, and Venus or Vixen.

What are you currently working on?

Stories are forthcoming in: Blood Moon Zine, Blood Rose, Micro Stories Anthology, Reckless Abandon, Rogue Worlds, The Dream People, and The Swamp. I am an Active Member of the Horror Writers Association who lives in Brooklyn.

Why do you write?

I write because I have an overactive imagination. I love to create situations where I have complete control over the outcome. I love telling stories that make my readers think.

Why horror in particular?

Horror appeals to me because it's a great way for me to work through my fears! Besides, it's exciting to be scared!

What sort of books do you like to read?

I enjoy classic literature, contemporary literature, horror, humor and science fiction. H.P. Lovecraft's stories emphasized a fear of the unknown; Franz Kafka's bizarre, haunting stories; Edgar Allen Poe's tales of suspense. All of these authors have had a huge impact on my work.

If you could meet any character from a book, who would it be and why?

Definitely Frankenstein's monster--he was alone in the world, feared, and misunderstood.

Any tips on marketing or promotion?

The Internet is a valuable marketing tool. My novel, The Art of Deception, is available at amazon.com. I've also devoted a page on my Web site, http://www.crimsonscreams.com to it.

About the book:

The Art of Deception

New York City can be cruel but not nearly as nasty as Russell Silverburg's former employee, Joan Clifton. After he raped her, she fled to California to create Share Well Industries, a company he is profitably investing his clients' money in. Russell is shocked when Share Well Industries' stock plummets. After some fact checking, he discovers the corporation is a scam Joan devised to get even, a financial rape that will leave Russell defenseless and vulnerable.
